The series of paintings dedicated to Les Ménines was made by Picasso in 1957, inspired by the famous 1656 Velásquez’s painting.
They are very original compositions as for the subjects, the style and the expressive force of the bright colours.
The Ménines featured in the foulard carré are Isabel de Velasco and Maria Agustina Sarmiento.
